on Jul 17, 2015, Updated Nov 30, 2023 6 Comments Our wild blackberry bushes have been loaded with blackberries this summer and you better believe we’ve taken full advantage of them as much as we could! Although, I’m starting to see the end of the season quickly approach. With our baskets in hand and outfitted in long pants and long sleeves in the early mornings, we head out to pick the ripest of the blackberries we can find. Of course, as usual, they are tucked deep into the blackberry brambles where the deer, turkey and rabbits haven’t gotten to them yet. I’m not complaining though. I’m happy that the wild animals around the farm are enjoying the blackberries as much as we are! I wait for them from the minute I see the white blooms on the bushes in spring and watch, just planning all of the delicious ways I’m going to use them all. I love them just as they are as a sweet yet slightly tart snack, to toss into my salads, to enjoy with our breakfast, or for making Grandmother’s blackberry cobbler for dessert. But another way that I love to use them is to make this out of this world blackberry lemonade. My goodness is it delicious! I start with my blackberry syrup recipe that I’ve shared with you all before. Now believe me, that is delicious just on a spoon, as a topping for ice cream, pancakes, but when you make it into lemonade it is just simply amazing. The syrup only takes a few minutes to make and keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator and can be used to make this lemonade by the glass or by the pitcher – perfect for serving at parties or picnics! Enjoy!Robyn xo
