Crisp, crunchy, and full of flavor these Goat Cheese Crostini are sure to be a new favorite. Creamy goat cheese spread on top of a crisp slice of baguette and topped with warm toasty walnuts and a drizzle of sweet honey. This appetizer really has it all. Walnuts: Toasting these walnuts make them more fragrant and add a fantastic crunch to each bite. Goat Cheese: Goat cheese is tangy, creamy, and has a distinct flavor that pairs beautifully with sweet and nutty elements just like in my French Lentil Salad with Walnuts and Goat Cheese. Honey: Drizzling honey over the top ties everything together with a kiss of sweetness. See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities. Cheese: If goat cheese isn’t your thing, you could try cream cheese, ricotta, or even a blue cheese for a bolder flavor. Balsamic Glaze: Instead of, or in addition to, the honey, a drizzle of balsamic glaze can add in a tangy sweetness, I particularly love it on top of my Tomato, Basil, and Balsamic Chicken. Different Bread: While I love the classic baguette, you could also use ciabatta or any other crusty bread you have on hand. Step #4: Once the oven is pre-heated, place the baguette slices and walnuts in the oven on separate racks. Step #5: Allow the walnuts to toast for 5-7 minutes, checking every minute or so, until golden brown and fragrant. Be careful not to burn them! Step #6: Remove the baguette slices after 15-20 minutes, or when crisped and golden. If your oven has hot spots you may want to rotate the baguette pan halfway through the baking time. The toasted baguette slices can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature, the goat cheese and walnuts in the fridge, and the honey at room temperature.
