on Sep 26, 2011, Updated Sep 27, 2023 10 Comments Apple Pie Spice is one of my favorite spice blends to make and keep in my pantry for making so many recipes. It’s delicious in my homemade applesauce, and I especially love to keep it in my spice rack as I gear up for fall recipes like apple cider and holiday baking that surely involves apple pies. It’s delicious sprinkled in hot cocoa or hot tea with honey and lemon. And I love it in granola, cakes, cookies, and even in our slow cooker oatmeal. We definitely go through it around here!
How to Make Homemade Apple Pie Spice
Ingredients
To make this spice blend, you will use the following spices: Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full listing of ingredients, instructions, notes, and estimated nutritional information.
ground cinnamon ground nutmeg ground allspice ground ginger
Step-by-Step Instructions
Measure each of the ground spices. Then, combine them all in a large mixing bowl. With a whisk or fork, mix all of the ground spices together. Once blended, decant the apple pie spice into an airtight container. I generally make a large batch, but you can easily scale the recipe based on how much apple pie spice you plan to use during the season.
Storage Tips
To store: Place your spice blend in an airtight spice container with a lid that seals well. Store away from light and moisture for best results. This apple pie spice blend usually is best used within 1-2 years.
