It’s that good. It’s a lime sherbet cooler. It has two ingredients, can be made in a flash, and is perfect to serve to a bunch of hot, sweaty children when they are outside playing like there is no tomorrow. I remember being one of those hot, sweaty children and my Mama bringing my friends and me a tray of these drinks out on the porch. We thought we were something else. She’d simply walk outside, announce she brought us something to drink and we’d rush her like she’d just said she was giving away a million dollars. Come to think of it, I don’t think I even knew what a million dollars was when I was a child. Money really didn’t have much meaning to me growing up. Most of our vegetables were grown in the garden and we made a weekly trip to the Jitney Jungle for our main staples of meats, bread, milk, and a few other things like ginger ale and lime sherbert. We weren’t poor, or at least I didn’t know it if we were, but money just really wasn’t a topic of discussion. I guess that is exactly what childhood should be like – not thinking about those things that you get to think about when you are no longer a child. Anyway, back to this divine refreshment. I guarantee you that you and your little ones will love a tall glass of this deliciousness the next afternoon when it is hot and sticky outside. You just need a scoop or two of lime sherbet in a tall glass. Fill your glass the rest of the way with ginger ale or even a lemon-lime soda will work. Plop in a straw and enjoy!
