Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits Recipe

If you love cinnamon rolls, the flavors of these biscuits will definitely remind you of them but they are so, so much easier! Ready and on the table in 20 minutes, you really can’t beat them! The recipe makes 12 biscuits, but can easily be scaled up or down for the number that you need. You can also make mini sweet cinnamon biscuits if you use a smaller biscuit cutter, making them just perfectly sized for a brunch buffet, a bridal or baby shower, tailgating, or really any type of entertaining!

How to Make Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits

To make them, I used self-rising flour in this recipe. But if you don’t have it on hand, try my tip for making your own self-rising flour that works like a charm! To my flour, I whisk in the brown sugar and the cinnamon for the kick of fall flavor throughout! Then, I cut my butter (or you could use organic shortening, coconut oil, or even lard if you prefer) into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. It only takes a minute to do with a pastry cutter or with two forks. Next, I gently stir in my buttermilk and apple cider until just incorporated and turn my dough out onto a lightly floured pastry cloth or towels. I then lightly flour my hands and gently pull the dough together into a large ball and then gently pat it into a large disc about 1/2- inch thickness. I use a 2-inch round cutter and cut each biscuit out of the dough and place onto the prepared baking sheet. I pop them into the oven and bake about 12 minutes until they are golden brown. While they are baking, I melt my butter and then brush the tops of the biscuits when I remove them from the oven.

How to Make the Apple Cider Glaze

Now, the biscuits totally don’t require the apple cider glaze. They are absolutely delicious right on their own, but that glaze takes them over the top! Just look at the first photo I’ve shared at that golden delicious apple cider glaze dripping over these amazing biscuits. It looks and tastes out of this world delicious, so it’s easy decision in my eyes! While the biscuits are baking, I also go ahead and make the apple cider glaze for topping the biscuits. It only takes a few minutes to make. To make it, add the butter and apple cider to a small saucepan set over medium heat. Whisk together until the butter has melted completely. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Of course, you don’t have to use it, but I totally urge you to! It is simply amazing! Whatever the event, I think these little biscuits are just the ticket!

Can These Be Made Ahead?

Yes! I’ve shared instructions on making these delicious biscuits ahead of time so that you can enjoy them any time you want!

Freezer Instructions

Biscuits may be made ahead and frozen in one of two ways. Unbaked  – Prepare without baking, but place the baking sheet of cut out biscuits into the freezer until frozen throughout, about 15 – 20 minutes. Remove from the freezer and place into a sealable freezer bag and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. To serve, remove from the oven and bake as directed. You may need to add a few minutes to the baking time to bake from frozen. Baked – Bake as directed and allow to cool completely. Then store in sealable freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months. To serve, reheat in the oven or microwave until heated throughout. Here’s my Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits with Apple Cider Glaze recipe. Make them soon and enjoy! Enjoy!Robyn xo
